Freshli Community Guidelines.
The rules for sharing food, circles and ingredient requests in Freshli. Last updated: 30 October 2026.
Freshli’s community features let you pass on food you will not use, ask for an ingredient, and join local circles. These guidelines keep that useful and safe. They form part of the Freshli Terms, and by using the community features you agree to follow them.
1. What you can share
Food and kitchen ingredients that are fit to eat: unopened packaged food within its date, fruit and vegetables, bread and bakes, and store-cupboard items. Share only what you would be happy to eat yourself.
2. What you must not share
- alcohol;
- medicines;
- raw meat, fish or eggs, or any other food that is unsafe to pass on, including food past its “use by” date;
- food that has been recalled; and
- anything illegal.
3. Describe food honestly
- Say which date it is. “Use by” is about safety: do not share food after it. “Best before” is about quality: food can be fine after it, but say so.
- List allergens you know of, and say if you do not know.
- Say whether it is opened, homemade or has been frozen, and how it has been stored.
- Describe the food as it really is.
4. Safe pickups
- Choose a public meeting point rather than your home address. Your pickup address and notes are shown only to you and to the person whose claim you accept, but a public place is still the safer choice.
- Tell someone where you are going.
- If something does not feel right, do not go ahead.
- If you are under 18, involve a parent or guardian before arranging any pickup.
5. Be respectful
No harassment, threats, hate, discrimination, spam or impersonation. Do not use listings, circles or requests to contact people for anything other than sharing food. Turn up when you say you will, or let the other person know.
6. Reporting and blocking
- Report a listing if it breaks these guidelines, and report a user who behaves badly. Reports go to Alderframe and are reviewed by a person.
- A listing reported by three different people is hidden automatically until it has been reviewed.
- Block a user to stop seeing them.
- If you think content is illegal, you can also send a formal notice: see Report illegal content.
7. What happens if the rules are broken
We may hide or remove a listing, request or circle post, and restrict or suspend an account’s access to the community features or to Freshli. We act proportionately, considering how serious the problem is and whether it has happened before. Where we can, we tell the person affected what we did and why, and how to ask us to review the decision, as described on our Digital Services Act page. Where someone may be at risk, we may contact the relevant authorities.
8. Contact
