RouteSky · Open data
RouteSky road data.
The database RouteSky builds from OpenStreetMap for speed limits, lane guidance and speed-enforcement alerts, its licence, and how to get it. Last updated: 14 October 2026.
RouteSky’s speed limits, lane guidance and speed-enforcement alerts come from a database Alderframe Ltd builds from OpenStreetMap: © OpenStreetMap contributors. That database is available to anyone, free of charge, under the Open Database License 1.0 (ODbL).
Get the database
The whole database is published, free and without a key or account, at:
https://uuqycniicodtquijncph.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/routesky-road-tiles/v1/
- Start with current.json. It names the current cycle, its index (with a SHA-256 checksum for every file) and the licence.
- Licence and notices: LICENSE-ODbL.txt. Individual contents are under the Database Contents License 1.0.
- How it is made: README.txt describes the OpenStreetMap extracts used, what is kept, how roads are simplified, merged and cut into tiles, and how speed-enforcement sites are selected.
- Speed-enforcement data is in
enforcement/, as a separate part of the same database.
Tiles that have not changed since an earlier monthly cycle stay where they were first published, and the index points to them, so every file of the current database stays downloadable. On request to [email protected] we will also send, free of charge, the programs that build the database or the full database itself.
What it contains
Only OpenStreetMap data, from Geofabrik’s extracts covering the world, updated monthly with OpenStreetMap’s own changes. It keeps drivable roads with their speed-limit, lane and lane-access tags, and fixed speed cameras and average-speed zones. Names and other tags are removed. No Apple Maps, TomTom or Community Reports data is mixed in.
In the app, RouteSky shows the speed-limit sign, lane arrows and speed-enforcement alerts made from this database with the credit “Road data © OpenStreetMap”, and its data sources and credits link here.
Your rights
You may copy, share, use and adapt this database under the ODbL. If you publicly use it, or a database or work made from it, you must credit OpenStreetMap, keep the licence notice, and offer any adapted database under the ODbL. Nothing in the RouteSky Terms of Use restricts the rights the ODbL gives you over this database.
The equivalent OpenStreetMap data is available from openstreetmap.org and download.geofabrik.de.
Limits
OpenStreetMap data can be missing, wrong or out of date. Speed limits, lanes and speed-enforcement sites shown from this database are guidance only. The road signs always come first.
