How We Use AI.

We use very little AI, and where we do we would rather say exactly what it is than let you guess. This page lists every place artificial intelligence touches an Alderframe product, what it does, and where the processing happens.

Freshli — recipe ideas

Freshli’s recipe suggestions are produced by Apple Intelligence running on your device. The request and the suggestion are processed locally on your iPhone or iPad. Alderframe does not receive the recipe request or the generated suggestion, and none of it is used to train any model — ours or anyone else’s. (Your item list itself is stored in your Freshli account; the Freshli Privacy Policy explains what is held and where.)

Suggestions are generated automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Always check ingredients, allergens, cooking temperatures and food safety for yourself. Freshli does not give medical, dietary or food-safety advice, and a suggestion is not a judgement about whether food is safe to eat. If something looks, smells or seems wrong, throw it away.

Freshli — reading barcodes and receipts

Barcode scanning and receipt capture use Apple’s on-device vision and text-recognition frameworks to read what the camera sees. The image is processed on your device. The receipt photo is not uploaded — only the items read from it are saved to your account. A photo you deliberately attach to an item is stored with that item; the Freshli Privacy Policy covers it.

SaySpace — voice notes

Captions and summaries for voice notes are generated on supported iPhones, on the device, using Apple’s speech and language frameworks. The audio is not sent to Alderframe for transcription.

SaySpace — what we deliberately do not do

SaySpace does not use AI to rank your feed, to score accounts, or to decide who gets seen. Distribution is rule-based and explained in Reach Insights and Account Health — that is the entire point of the product. The News tab shows headlines, short excerpts and links published by third parties through public RSS feeds; it does not summarise, rewrite or generate news text.

RouteSky — how the scoring works

The Journey Score and the departure-time suggestions are calculated by ordinary deterministic code, not a machine-learning model: weather data from Apple Weather is combined with route timing using rules we wrote, which is why the app can show you the reasons behind a score. RouteSky does not use AI to generate content, and community hazard reports are written by drivers, not machines.

Automated decisions about you

We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you by automated means. Rate limits, spam protection and the hiding of repeatedly flagged community hazard reports are automated, but they are narrow, reversible, and a person will review any of them if you ask. Your content and model training

We do not sell your content, and we do not license it to anyone to train AI models. We do not train models on your posts, your kitchen, your routes or your voice notes.

Where the law sits

Under Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the EU AI Act), the features described above are limited-risk at most. None of them are prohibited practices under Article 5, none are high-risk systems under Article 6, and none perform emotion recognition or biometric categorisation. Where AI generates content for you — Freshli’s recipe ideas — the app labels it as generated so that its nature is obvious at the point of use, and this page records it for the avoidance of doubt.

Building with AI

We use AI-assisted developer tooling while writing software, in the same way most studios now do. Everything shipped is reviewed by a human, and we take responsibility for all of it.
